I.V.F. mother backs method
NZPA-AAP Melbourne Anyone considering in vitro fertilisation should go ahead and join the programme says the mother of Australia’s second frozen embryo baby and one of the programme’s staunchest supporters. Mrs Margaret Brooks, aged 33, from the Melbourne suburb of South Oak-
leigh gave birth to John Brian James Brooks on August 16 at the Queen Victoria Medical Centre in Melbourne. Mrs Brooks has been promoting the programme since she first became pregnant and has probably given about 100 interviews during her pregnancy. About the programme she
said, “It’s wonderful, what else can I say? “The actual process for freezing, the whole programme, is a lot less strenuous, emotionally and physically and doesn’t put as much trauma into the process. "You only spend half an hour in the hospital and then go on home,” she said.
The baby is the first child for Mr Brian Brooks, aged 34, and the third for Mrs Brooks who has two daughters, aged 14 and 12, from a previous marriage. Mrs Brooks has been infertile since she had a tubal ligation 11 years ago after the birth of her second child. The operation was irreversible.
