CHESS A resounding win by the New Zealand representative, Roger Nokes, against the ninetimes champion, Bruce Anderson, of Christchurch, gave the Canterbury player a clear lead in the South Island chess championship in Christchurch yesterday. Nokes has the possible four points and is a half point ahead of the joint South Island title-holders, Vernon Small and Adrian Lloyd (both Christchurch) who drew their fourth round contest yesterday.
