Women in unions
Women are a growing influence in the front line of many trade unions’ struggles to improve the lot of their members. More and more women are not only standing up and having their say, they are moving into the movement’s top jobs. Tonight in “Close Up” Phil Melchior will explore the roles and aspirations of
three very different women who have taken up the struggle on behalf of their fellow workers. Aerial spraying from micro-lites is illegal in New Zealand, yet it is extensively used. In “Close Up” Ted Sheehan will examine the uses of micro-lites both as an agricultural aid and as a flying toy.
New Zealand will get a new national art gallery to mark its 150th anniversary. It is designed by a New Zealander, Ted McCoy, of Dunedin, who sees this commission as an architect’s dream come true. Ted McCoy will talk to Carole de Colville of the problems and hopes associated with such an important building.
