Bards battle
“Battle of the Bards,” a poetry reading for new and established poets, may become a regular event The "battle,” which is not at all competitive, has been held a few times in Christchurch and the organiser, Ged Maybury, hopes to make it a regular monthly event The next reading at the Arts Centre Tavern will feature Kathleen Gallagher, Chris Moisa and Lex Matheson on August 28. Another reading has been arranged for September 25. The format for the readings is of three feature poets with opportunities for new poets to take the floor. Kathleen Gallagher has been a poet since the 1970 s and is involved in creative writing groups. Chris Moisa is a painter who has published two books of poems and runs One-Eyed Press, which publishes poetry. Lex Matheson is an actor who also writes poetry. The “Battle of the Bards” will begin about 8 p.m.
