P.S.A. ‘will not carry burden’
PA Wellington The Public Service Association has warned the Government it was not prepared to carry the financial burden resulting from devaluation. It has just published a pamphlet on the “devaluation saga” for its members. If the low wage-economy strategy is to be avoided, the pamphlet says, several steps have to be taken. They include decisive action. to ensure those who speculated did not make a permanent gain from devaluation and an overhaul of the exchange and trade regulations. The paper also called for. wage-bargaining procedures to give adequate protection to workers and action to defend public services.
