Kiwi ingenuity strikes

PA Wellington “Kiwi ingenuity” has put the Tuvaluan Government’s ship Naraga back in service. The crew of the Royal New . Zealand Navy’s Monowai, on hydrographic survey work around the Tuvalu Island group, north of Fiji, did the work, according to the Navy’s public relations officer, LieutenantCommander Gerry Power. The Naraga had been laid up for weeks since its engine overheated and stopped. There are no engineering facilities on Tuvalu capable of repairing it But the Monowai’s engineering shop turned out a new cylinder head stud from the rear axle of an abandoned car to get the freigß and passenger trader back xn service.
