Olympic golds wanted
PA Auckland The Olympic gold commemoratives were an instant sell-out, according to the Auckland Coin and Bullion Exchange, which minted them.
The managing director, Mr Ray Smith, said yesterday that people who bought 500 gold commemoratives marking the Olympic Games would be able to make a quick profit. He said the proceeds from the $750 gold commemorative and 20,000 silver commemoratives worth 555 each went to support New Zealand competitors in Los Angeles. Mr Smith said the company now wanted to buy back the gold commemoratives for $5O more so that they could be resold at $B5O. “This is part of our overall programme to help the sale of commemoratives and therefore help the New Zealand appeal fund,” he said. .
