School’s winning entry

Melanie Burford, of St Margaret’s College, shows off her team’s winning entry in the third form section of the schools programming competition held by the Canterbury Computer Education Society earlier this month. Second in the third form section was a team from Hillmorton High School. The

second form section was won by another St Margaret’s team. Both the third and second form sections were given a set of exercises in Logo to execute in a limited time. Teams in the senior section were presented with a challenging exercise in handling text, similar to basic steps involved in writ-

tag a spelling checker program. A team from St Andrew’s College won the senior section, with Christ’s College second and Hillmorton High School third. Prizes for the competition were donated by Whitcoulls, Christchurch Polytechnic, the New Zealand Computer Society, Solstat Industries and Technical Books.
