Trade fair tips for exporters
The Department of Trade and Industry has organised a half-day seminar in Christchurch for exporters wanting to learn about participating in overseas trade fairs. The seminar is one of a series being held throughout New Zealand next month, and the Christchurch one, at the Chateau Regency Hotel, on September 6, will feature Mr John Frances, of Beetacom, Ltd, and Mr Rod Cummings, formerly the trade commissioner in Paris, as the key speakers. Topics to be covered include why exporters should consider participating in such fairs, their benefit in terms of export development, and what the exporter needs to do to get the most out of his participation. The assistance offered by the Department of Trade
and Industry to trade fair participants by its New Zealand offices, and overseas trade posts will also be ~ outlined The choice of trade fairs for the seminars reflects growing interest by New Zealand exporters in overseas trade fairs to develop export markets, says the department. The fairs which are being considered for various forms of sponsorship by the department in 1985-86, will be outlined at the seminars, so those attending can look at the proposals. The Christchurch seminar runs from 12.30 p.m. until 5 p.m. and programmes and registration forms for this year’s export seminars are available from offices of the chambers of commerce, the Department of Trade and Industry, or Export Institute offices.
