Motherhood
Sir,—Today the last all-male Cabinet in New Zealand Parliamentary history resigns. That is a historic turning point that overshadows the fatuous speeches by Messrs Muldoon and McLay venerating traditional motherhood. Parliamentarians sacrifice their family life for their career. It is obvious where their personal values lie. Those who do care for the next generation are those who usually walk, bike or bus to get around, not being able to afford even the maligned Skoda, let alone a “respectable” car. When the G.N.P. recognises the value to our country of dedicated parents and when both parents contribute to both homes and national decisions, New Zealand will indeed have recognised the value of homemakers. — Yours, etc " ALAN WILKINSON, Co-leader, N.Z. Values Party. July 24, 1984.
