50-50 chance on fees
PA Wellington Labour Party policy to cut doctors’ charges for child visits to "$2 or less” had a 50-50 chance of making this year’s Budget, said the Minister of Health, Dr
Bassett, last evening. The patient cost reduction was in line with Dr Bassett’s first priority as Minister of Health, which was to improve primary medical care. He said that he would
discuss the general medical services benefit with the Medical Association, but could only rate his chances of getting provisions included in the Budget as 5050 because of the pressure of time.
