McDonald’s close cafe
NZPA-AP San Ysidro The McDonald’s restaurant where 21 people were killed by a gunman would not reopen, the' company said yesterday after a crew working before dawn quietly removed its golden arches and other signs. “After talking with our franchisee and considering the sentiment of the community, we believe this decision to be in everyone’s best interest,” a McDonald’s spokesman said. “No decision has been made regarding the future of the site. We do hope to open in a new San Ysidro
location,” he said. About 70 mourners, who would like to see a memorial park replace the structure, held a candlelight vigil in front of the restaurant on Tuesday. The workmen did not disturb the wreaths and red-and-wfiite carnations laid out neatly in front of the building by people mourning the victims of the shootings. , “It seems like our prayers have been answered,” said Dominga Navarro, who lives across the street, before the closing was announced.
