Bonus bones find

Some of the moa bones, estimated to be more than 500 years old, that were found by Mr Peter Hall and his son, Mathew (pictured), after an unknown man dumped the bones at the Green Island rubbish tip in Dunedin at the week-end. Mr Hall took the bones to the Otago Museum, which established them as genuine.

The museum is now keen to find the man who dumped the bones to find their original source for research purposes. All that is known about the man is that he spoke

with either a Dutch or German accent and drove a metallic green Holden Commodore station waggon. The find is important because of the good condition of the bones.
