Business sales
Contentions that business sales account for 60 to 70 per cent of the British car market have been rejected by Sam Toy, chairman of Ford of Britain.
Quoting figures from his own company’s market surveys, Mr Toy said that the fleet and business share of Ford’s market had dropped from 55 to 47 per cent over the last four years. At the same time, Mr Toy predicted that, in Britain, diesel car sales would increase from April, 1984’s 1.7 per cent to 4 or 5 per cent of the April, 1985, market.
