$42,300 realised at auction

PA Auckland An auction of standardbred stallions’ service fees raised $42,300 for the New Zealand Sires’ Stakes Series at Alexandra Park last Saturday. The highest price was $6600 for the Christchurchbased Smooth Fella, whose regular fee is $2500. The service to Smooth Fella, which is fully booked next season, was' bought by Mr Cliff Henshaw, of Albany. Next was Lordship at $4700, followed by Game Pride at $2200. Lordship stands at $3500 and Game Pride at $l5OO. Game Pride is the leading sire this season. Like Smooth Fella, both Lordship and Game Pride stand in Canterbury. Mr Henshaw also bought the Game Pride service, and that to Lordship went to Mr L. J. Hill, of Epsom. The big majority of the prices were above the regular fees and Stakes Board representatives were delighted with the result.
