Mr Peter H. Smith has been appointed the managing director of Wardley New Zealand, Ltd, the new merchant banking subsidiary of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. His previous experience includes holding various executive positions with the Bank of America in Japan, Australia, and Hong Kong. Others to be appointed directors of Wardley are Mr David L. Phillips and Mr Stanley R. Hull. Mr Phillips’ appointment comes after 14 years of Asian and Middle East executive postings with the Hongkongßank. He is the executive director of foreign exchange and money market activities with Wardley. Mr Hull continues as managing director of TKM (New Zealand), Ltd, a company associated with Wardleys.
