Success for Swart

NZPA-AP Aspen Jack Swart, of New Zealand, who paid his own way and has no hopes of making his country’s Olympic squad, sped through downtown streets in capturing the Aspen circuit race of the Coors International Bicycle Classic yesterday. Swart zipped through the

100 km Aspen circuit race in 2:12.135, edging out Davis Phinney,' of the United States. Belgium’s Frank Veerlyn was placed third. “It’s the biggest international win of my life,” Swart said after the victory. “This race is now the best amateur race in the world, and this is my Olympic medal.”
