Son saved from fire by minutes
PA Auckland A woman yesterday carried her handicapped son, aged seven, to safety minutes before flames destroyed her North Shore home. The woman, who did not wish to be named, said she was in the shower at her rented Okura farmhouse when she noticed smoke about 2 p.m. She had had time only to wrap clothes round herself and flee with her son. Her daughters, aged 13 and 10, also escaped the blaze.
The woman and her three children spent last night at a friend’s home.
