Radio Avon awaits legal advice

Radio ‘Avon would await further legal advice before deciding on what position Murray Inglis would hold with the station said the programme director, Mr Rob McKay, yesterday. Mr Inglis, a former radio announcer for 3ZM, has been prevented by the High Court from broadcasting on any Christchurch radio station until December 12 this year, or until the hearing of a main injunction application, which will possibly be held in August. When he joined 3ZM, Mr Inglis signed a contract which contained a restraint clause preventing him from working for a rival station for six, months after his contract with 3ZM terminated.

Mr McKay said that he did not know whether there would be an appeal against the injunction, or a full hearing, and the station was “awaiting further legal advice.”

But one thing was certain, he said. “There is no way we are going to let him go.”
