Narrow badminton win
Christchurch gained a very narrow win over Hagley I in the only A grade badminton contest at the Skellerup Hall on Tuesday night. The teams were level at four matches each at the conclusion of the contest. They were also level on a countback of individual games, 9-9. However, the final check, on actual points, revealed that Christchurch had accumulated six more than Hagley. In the other scheduled match, Railway I beat South Brighton I by default. The most recent player of
the day awards — Tabac for men, Mary Quant for the women — have been won by Geoff Miller (Railway I) and Lynda Kitchingham (KnoxCanterbury), from last Saturday’s matches, and Andrew Duckmanton (Christchurch) and Diane Smith (Hagley I) from Tuesday night. Points in section one after two rounds of post-section play: Railway I 134, Hagley I 114, Christchurch 92, South Brighton I 83. Christchurch 196 points, Hagley I 190 points Singles.— A. Duckmanton
