Concert banned
NZPA-Reuter Boston Town Selectmen (councillors) in Foxboro, 22km south-west of Boston, rejected yesterday a two-night concert by Michael Jackson and his brothers in a 50,000seat stadium.
Garrett Spillane, a lawyer for the owners of Sullivan Stadium, where the concert had been planned, said that the decision had shocked him.
Selectmen cited potential litter, lack of adequate security, and an inadequate traffic control plan. The concert was planned as part of a nation-wide tour by Jackson. During negotiations with the town the stadium organisation had changed the
dates of the concert from three nights in July to two nights in August 'and believed that they had supplied a satisfactory plan to handle security and other matters, Mr Spillane said.
