James Cagney in hospital
NZPA-AP Boothbay Harbor
Officials at St Andrew’s Hospital refused yesterday to release any information on James Cagney, the 84-year-old actor who was admitted on Saturday for shortness of breath.
The hospital said that the family had requested that
the hospital not divulge any information.
Cagney, best known in his six-decade movie career for gangster roles, won an Academy Award for his portrayal of the song-and-dance man, George Cohan, in the 1942 film, “Yankee Doodle Dandy.” The actor also played in
such movies as “Public Enemy,” “Angels With Dirty Faces,” and “The Roaring Twenties.”
The New York “Daily News” reported that Cagney had suffered a mild heart attack. Friends of Cagney quoted him as saying: “I’m feeling better. When are we going home?”
