Craven in Argentina
NZPA-Reuter Johannesburg The South African Rugby Union chief, Danie Craven, and two senior officials are in Argentina trying to arrange a rugby tour there, according to the South African Press Association.
Other rugby officials refused to comment, but Dr Craven’s wife, Merle, told Reuters her husband was in Buenos Aires and added: “I’m sure he is on rugby business.”
Dr Craven said during the recent tour of South Africa by England that he was keen to organise an overseas tour for the
Springboks before next year’s proposed visit by the All Blacks.
A Springbok team last visited South America in 1980 when it played Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile. But the Argentinian Government refused permission to play there.
