Eastern Bay now trained in Aust.

The class filly, Eastern Bay, will do her future racing in Australia. The Princely Note three-year-old has joined the Sydney stable of Neville Begg after crossing the Tasman about three weeks ago. Eastern Bay has been off the scene since pulling up in a distressed condition after the running of the New Zealand Oaks at Trentham on January 28. She was immediately turned out for a spell and resumed light work about a month ago. Trained throughout her three-year-old career by Joe Bromby, at Cambridge, Eastern Bay compiled a fine record of two wins and seven placings from 12 starts in the latest season. Her wins included the

Desert Gold Stakes at Trentham and she was three times runner-up to top filly Burletta — in the Bayer Classic at Levin, New Zealand 1000 Guineas at Riccarton and the Gold Trail Stakes at Hastings. She also recorded third placings in the Lowland and Euglogy Stakes and ran fourth in the ladies Mile, while against the older horses she ran second in the Dulcie 1600.

Eastern Bay had also recorded two wins and five placings from her nine starts as a juvenile for her owners Kahu Whiteley, of Te Teko, Huia Briggs, of Auckland, and Jack McCartie, of Edgecumbe. Eastern Bay has been entered for both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups and these look likely targets providing she comes up well.
