Robbery witnesses approach police
Several people who saw the robbery of a taxi-driver in Cashmere early on Saturday have got in touch with the police. Detective Senior-Sergeant Roger Carson said that the information received was being investigated. “We are very pleased with the way the witnesses have come forward,” he said.
The driver of the taxi was robbed of his wallet after dropping three people off at Landsdowne Terrace about 1.30 a.m.
One was a European, aged about 26,175 cm tall, of medium build with short fair hair. He wore a dark blue pinstripe suit. The other two were Maori, both aged about 21, and of medium build. One was 175 cm tall with short, straight black hair and wore a red jersey and fawn trousers. The other had longer hair, a moustache, was 178 cm tall, and wore jeans with a blue jacket.
