The appointee will be responsible for the provision of required nursing services in the hospital and to deputise for the Chief Nurse in her absence. The position requires the appointee to hold R.G.O.N. or R.Cp.N. under the Nurses Act, 1977, and a Diploma in Nursing or other suitable post-basic qualification. Experience in administration at senior level is highly desirable. In addition to responsibility for Rheumatology Outpatient Clinics and liaison with Orthopaedic and Pain Clinics, the successful applicant will be responsible for the Young Chronic Disabled Unit of 12 beds, will act as a resource person for community rehabilitation agencies, will supervise the recently expanded on campus Rehabilitation Unit and will help further develop specialised patient support groups. Duties will be mainly at Rotorua Hospital, but there will also be duties at the Child Potential Unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital and at Taupo Hospital. The position therefore calls for experience and an interest in neonatal care, in paediatric neurology and in community paediatrics.
