Workers suspended
PA Timaru Suspension notices were issued to about 200 workers at New Zealand Insulators’ factory at Temuka yesterday.
The workers, all members of the Labourers’ Union, have been suspended until they return to normal working hours.
For the last week the workers have imposed an overtime ban in an effort to get a written bonus agreement. The management says that bonus rates are part of the company’s policy
and are not negotiable. The union will discuss further action at a meeting on Monday.
