Biannual overhaul

The Holmdale manoeuvres into Lyttelton’s dry dock yesterday for her biannual overhaul. The Chatham Islands trader will be in dock for about a week for maintenance of her tail shaft and sea connections.

The work, which is being done by the Lyttelton engineering firm, Sinclair Melbourne, Ltd, has been scheduled between the Holmdale’s monthly service to the Chathams. A spokesman for her owner, the Union Steam Ship Company, said work was expected to be completed in time to allow her to begin loading the week before her next voyage to the Chathams on June 30.
