N. Auckland battles

PA Paeroa The second division team, Thames Valley, made first division North Auckland battle all the way for its 146 win in a representative rugby match at Paeroa yesterday. Playing in ideal conditions, North Auckland appeared from the start to be taking complete control,

but the home side settled down and the visitors had to be content with a penalty goal lead at the interval. Midway through the second spell the score was 7-6 in the visitors’ favour with Thames Valley still holding its own, but over the final quarter Alistair Robinson got his forwards together and they guided the side to victory.
