Big money is changing hands in a well organised and ruthless dog-fighting racket in Melbourne, says the R.S.P.C.A.
Vice squad detectives and the society are working together to catch the offenders who have been working in the suburbs for the last five years.
Bull terriers are the mos common dog being used am the police believe thefts o the breed are linked to thi gambling scene. An R.S.P.C.A. inspector Mr Barrie Tapp, said th, dogfights were to the deatl as bookmakers took bets oi the outcome.
He said as many as 10 gamblers attended th< fights.
