U.S.-Chinese cigarettes

Sir,—People who walk and cycle around Christchurch must suffer a lot in silence through having to breathe in the foul fumes of buses, not to mention exhausts of thousands of cars. Cigarettes are only the small fry these days. The ancient Chinese probably started off by puffing away on dry grass reeds then on to the rougher types of tobacco leaf. So now with the more superior brands being offered by the Americans then it looks like those Chinese will soon be tanking it is Christmas every daA The Chinese Government seems to

know its onions as far as knowing just what many people want to do, and so will refrain from trying to ban something people like to do. As far as cigarette smoking causing cancer is concerned nothing has been proved just what causes that, or how to cure it. International experts in that field still have to agree that they just don’t know. — Yours, etc.,
