MAKING AND LEVYING OF RATES 1984-85 Public Notice Is given pursuant to Section 52 and 66 of the Rating Act 1967 that it Is the Intention of the Kalapol Borough Council at a meeting to be held on Wednesday, June 27, 1984 at 8.30 a.m. to make and levy the undermentioned rates for the period April 1,1984 to March 31,1985 upon the land value of all rateable properties as are shown in the valuation rolls now in force in the Borough of Kalapol, such rates to comprise:— Pursuant to Section 175 of the Local Government Act, 1974, a consolidated rate of four decimal three nine one five cents (4.3915) in the dollar comprising:— (1) A general rate of three decimal four seven nought six cents (3.4706) in the dollar made pursuant to Section 136 of the Local Government Act, 1974, the Rating Act, 1967, and any amendments thereto. (2) A special rate of decimal nine two nought nine cents (.9209) in the dollar for loan charges as follows under Section 47 of the Local Authorities Loans Act, 1956: 1974 Water Supply Loan $2,869 1977 Water Supply Loan $125,544 1979 Water Supply Additional Loan $53,517 (3) The following rates have been directed to be made and levied pursuant to a Special Order made by the North Canterbury Catchment Board, such rates having been adjusted to land value rating: (a) An administration rate of decimal one nought nine three cents (.1093) in the dollar. (b) A Waimakarirl/Eyre/Cust area (Class B) rate of decimal one three seven six cents (.1376) in the dollar. (c) A Waimakarirl/Eyre/Cust area (Class A) rate of decimal nought eight five cents (.085) in the dollar. (4) A Sewage charge being a uniform annual charge pursuant to Section 162 of the Local Government Act 1974 for the purpose of maintaining and extending the sewer system and to meet the payment of annual charges on any loans raised in connection with the system and the operation, maintenance and extension of sewage treatment facilities, a uniform annual charge amounting to $52.50 for each water closet or urinal connected either directly or through a private drain, to a public drain: for property situated within 30 metres of a public sewage drain to which it is capable of being effectively connected either directly or through a private drain but the property is not connected either directly or through a private drain to any public drain a fee of $26.25 shall be paid. (5) A Refuse charge being a uniform annual charge pursuant to Section 163 of the Local Government Act, 1974, to be a uniform annual charge of $37.50 upon all property situated within the Borough as having a building erected thereon and In cases where buildings are let In apartments or flats or business premises such fee shall be payable in respect of all separately occupied portions of the building. This fee provides for the removal each week of the contents of two regulation refuse receptacles. THAT pursuant to Section 66 of the Rating Act, 1967, all the foregoing rates and levies be payable in two equal instalments and that the first instalment be due and payable on July 3, 1984 and the second instalment shall be due and payable on January 3, 1985 to the Town Clerk, Kalapol at the Municipal Offices, 176 Williams Street, Kalapol. THAT pursuant to Section 70 of the Rating Act, 1967, a rebate of five per centum (5 per cent) will be allowed off all rates (excluding those levied by the North Canterbury Catchment Board) paid on or before the 3rd day of August, 1984. THAT pursuant to Section 71 of the Rating Act, 1967, a penalty of ten per centum (10 per cent) will be added to all rates remaining unpaid after February 18, 1985. THAT pursuant to Section 52 of the Rating Act, 1967, notice is given that the Valuation Rolls and the Rate Book are open for public inspection at the office of the Kalapol Borough Council during normal hours, 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
