Party officials join board
PA Nelson Two National Party officials have been appointed directors of VVattwill Satellite Television Systems. the company which is making dishes to receive satellite television. The party's president, Mrs Sue Wood, and its general director. Mr Barrie Leay. were appointed directors' at a special board meeting on May 28. as was the former Auckland area manager of Whitcoulls. Mr Colin Francis. Mr Leay has become Wattwill's chairman. They have joined the two foundation directors. Messrs Gary Watson and Richard Williams, both of Motueka.Mrs Wood. elected National Party president in 1982, has a background in
journalism and public relations. Mr Leay has been the general director of the National Party since November. 1973. when he was appointed as part of the re-organisation under the former president. Sir George Chapman. Mr Francis said he would be actively involved in the company and the new directors had been chosen for their areas of expertise. Wattwill last year won a battle with the Post Office which claimed television reception by satellite dish aerials was' illegal. It now employs 13 people in its Motueka factory and about 20 firms working on supply contracts. Wattwill makes a line of dishes costing from $15,000 to $30,000.
