Week-end toll now seven
PA Wellington The death of a Wellington man, in southern Hawke's Bay on Sunday afternoon brought the week-end road toll to seven. He was Leslie Edward Broom. Mr Broom was travelling in a car that left the road just before a bridge at Tikokino. near Waipawa, and rolled on a bank near the stream at 4.50 p.m. An R.N.Z.A.F. airman died on Sunday when he was thrown from an over-turn-ing car. He was .Andrew Nelson Crowcott, aged 26. of Whenuapai Air Base. Mr Crowcott was a passenger in the car, which rolled several times after going out of control near the base. A man died when the car he was driving rolled in
Western Hills Drive. Whangarei, at 2.10 a.m. on Saturday. He was Christopher Harris, aged 28. of Whangarei. A patient from Cherry Farm hospital was killed on Friday night when he was hit by a truck outside the hospital gates. A man was killed and a woman was admitted to Palmerston North Hospital yesterday after their cars collided head-on at Ohau. about skm south of Levin The dead man was Phillip Murray O'Brien, aged 21, single, of Muhunoa East Road. Ohau. Mrs Barbara Timms, aged 37, married, of Queen Street East, Levin, was admitted to hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
