Beer runs out at hotels
PA Auckland Supplies of Dominion Breweries draught beer have run out in many of the breweries’ Auckland hotels because of a strike by the company’s workers at Otahuhu. The hotels are coping by offering their patrons bottled beer but these supplies are expected to last only until the end of the week. The workers at D.B.’s Waitemata brewery walked off the job on May 25 after a pressure tank exploded. The secretary of the Auckland Brewery Workers’ Union, Mr Ken Glendening, said the workers wanted some compensation for the time they had been out. He said there were still questions over safety at the brewery.
