N.Z. team arrives

NZPA special correspondent London Not even 30 minutes circling above Gatwick airport as jammed flaps were freed, dampened the spirits of the New Zealand women’s cricket team on its arrival in Britain. Leading a full New Zealand side for the first time, the captain, Debbie Hockley, said the team's enthusiasm would be a key to their 18match tour of England, which opens in Middlesex on Saturday. "Everyone is perfectly capable, they have all got talent. It’s just a matter of everyone being confident of their own ability and to pull together as a team, " said Hockley, aged 21. Hockley and the tour manager,’ Pat McKelvey, said the party's obvious and main aim was to become the first New Zealand women’s side to win a test series against England. New Zealand's first match is against a Thames Valley and Middlesex XI on Saturday, followed by another one-day match against on Sunday.
