Polytech classes and seminars

Almost 400 people have attended classes and seminars on small business,

run by the Christchurch Polytechnic’s Department of Business Studies, and the rolls are rising. The Polytechnic will have six case studies on its stand at the exhibition, ranging from one illustrating a recently started business to a case showing the problems of retiring owner-managers. There will be demonstrations on the use of microcomputers in small business, using a BMC and an IBM PC. On the Polytechnic stand will be Mr Murray Spackman. “We are committed to ensuring that small businesses do not fail through lack of knowledge,” he says. Courses start soon at the department on topics including salesmanship, accounting for the non-accoun-tant, investing in shares, retail selling, and on starting and running a small business.
