Mr Jones — no comment

PA Wellington The New Zealand Party leader, Mr Bob Jones, has said that no member of the party would in future comment on what he called “trivial or sensationalising personality matters” raised by reporters. Mr Jones said that political “inexperience and courtesy” had induced responses to such matters and had done the party’s cause great harm during the last three months. “We are all going to have to learn the art of saying ‘No comment’,” Mr Jones said. “To the political novice this seems a discourteous response but we will no

longer be fodder for the sleazier elements of the fourth estate. Fortunately they constitute a minority...” He did net specify what particular news incident or

incidents had led to the new policy. The party would not comment on “trivia” and would take legal action when "incorrect accusations” were printed, he said.
