Polar institute
China will set up an institute to plan long-term Antarctic research and investigate the resources of polar regions, the Xinhua News Agency says. A building in Shanghai to house the China Institute on Polar Regions will be completed in 1987. Since 1980 China has sent 32 scientists to Antarctica. Four are now working at Australian and Argentinian Antarctic stations. — Peking.
