Philippines alternative
Marxism is not the only alternative to the Government of President Marcos in the Philippines, according to the Labour member of Parliament for Mount Albert, Ms Helen Clark. Ms Clark was in the Philippines last month, invited by the opposition which boycotted the elections. The opponents of President Marcos ranged from the Right to the far Left, a spectrum similar to that in New Zealand, she said. “If democratic conditions prevailed in the Philippines, the people could choose which of those forces should be involved in government. Unfortunately that is not the case.”
