The original Calder Mackay shop, established by a friend and business associate of Mr Laidlaw, Sir William Calder Mackay. Built in 1928, the shop runs between Worcester Street and Gloucester Street in central Christchurch. The Calder Mackay chain of furnishing and hardware stores was taken over by Farmers’ in 1970.
