LINC acknowledged
A computer software product developed in Christchurch has been singled out as one of the technologies which has helped Burroughs Corporation to become the second-biggest computer company in the world. The product, LINC, received special mention from the corporation’s chairman, Mr W. Michael Blumenthal, in his report to
shareholders. Designed by two Christchurch men and adopted by Burroughs, LINC is now being used in nearly 1000 computer installations throughout the world. The corporation’s rise to second place is based on revenue of $U54389.7 million in 1983, putting the company ahead of Digital Equipment and second only to IBM.
