Checkers well beaten
The top-of-the-table clash betwewen Admiral LodgeCheckers and Vistalite High School Old Boys for the Alan Hoben Trophy senior men's Christchurch basketball championship at Cowles Stadium last evening was something of an anti-climax. Checkers, previously unbeaten in three games, could not handle the precision and skill of the defending champions and went down, 68-43, in a fairly one-sided match. Businessworld ComputersUniversity beat Continental Caterers-Rangiora, 69-57, to join Old Boys and Checkers at the head of the competition with six points. Butler Auto Spares edged out Aranui, 55-53, to move into fourth position. Results:
