Full marks to Belfast
A maximum score of 20 points brought Belfast from tenth to fifth place in “The Press” Centennial Cup competition for the best and fairest senior rugby team when sixth-round matches were played on Saturday. Belfast swamped Meri-vale-Papanui at Sheldon Park with a half-century tally, and it earned full marks of 12 for sportsmanship and eight for constructiveness in the process.
Burnside and Suburbs remain locked together in the lead, but Shirley, with a score of only one off the possible, crept up to third place, a mere point behind the leaders. Albion earned -a handsome 18 points for its efforts in beating Hornby and also improved its standing, but slipped back
in the field with the day’s poorest aggregate of nine.
