Foreign residenE in BriEin from nine non-Euro-pean Economic Community countries will be able to exchange their driving licences for British ones from June 1, the Government has announced. The arrangements, which are reciprocal, are with New Zealand, Australia, Kenya, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the colony of Hong Kong, said the Transport Minister, Mrs Lynda Chalker. Common Market licences are already automatically exchangeable. Mrs Chalker said that applications had to be made within the first year of residence in Britain.
