Philips buys in
The multinational electronics group, Philips, has become a shareholder in Cablevision New Zealand, Ltd, the consortium formed to introduce cable television to New Zealand. Philips Electrical Industries of New Zealand has acquired a 24 per cent interest in the company, which aims to develop cable systems capable
of carrying a large number of television channels, information, and monitoring services to the home. Philips bought its interest from tne Dunedin timber merchant, J. Scott and Company, Ltd. The other shareholders in Cablevision are Wilson and Horton, Ltd (47 per cent), and Tolley Holdings, Ltd, 29 per cent.
