Trades Hall bomb inquiry continues
PA Wellington Nearly 40 detectives are still at work on the eight-week-old Wellington Trades Hall bombing inquiry, but as yet are no closer to an arrest. “We’ve seen a lot of people but we’re not getting any strong leads,” said Detective Inspector E. A. Lines. “It’s a difficult inquiry, but an interesting one. We’re just not getting the right information.”
The hunt for the killer of the Trades Hall caretaker, Mr Ernest Abbott, is now mainly concentrated on suspects or related inquiries. The police have finished their area canvass, and the D.S.I.R. is working its way through a mountain of exhibits.
Mr Lines said the police were talking to several “suspects” a day. The names had come from the public or through police sources.
