Bottle deposit brings return
NZPA staff correspondent Washington New York state has enacted a law putting a deposit of at least 5c on all carbonated drink bottles. The charge came into effect over the opposition of the brewing industry, last September, and has already had an enormous effect, with nearly half the bottles sold being returned and noticeably fewer bottles litteringparksand playgrounds.
