Coronary by-pass for singer
PA Auckland The New Zealand tenor, Anthony Benfell, is resting at his Auckland home after coronary by-pass surgery late last month. The singer, aged 46, has cancelled his New Zealand engagements for the next six weeks. His wife, Jeanette, said that doctors had told her husband that he was progressing well, and that he would have to “play it by ear” as far as getting back into training and public performances were concerned. Mrs Benfell said that her husband had some engagements coming up in a few weeks that he hoped he would be able to fulfil.
