Doctor’s characters in books

PA Dunedin “Hank Prank” and “Hot Henrietta,” the storybook creations of a Dunedin clinical psychologist, Dr Jules Older, will feature in children’s books soon to be published by Heinemann in London. One of three books by Dr Older, “Jane and the Pirates,” is the first of a series of 24 Heinemann books for seven to nine year olds. The other two, "Hank Prank and Hot Henrietta” and “Hank Prank’s In Love” will follow. According to Dr Older, “Hank Prank’s In Love” is the first love story for boys, as far as Heinemann is aware. The story is based loosely on an incident in Geraldine some years ago when a young Vietnamese girl was reunited with her brother. Dr Older is a senior lecturer in psychological medicine at the University of Otago’s Medical School.
